On the occasion of the International Day of Women Judges, the Iraqi Women Judges Association renews its commitment to supporting the journey of women judges and strengthening their presence.

The Iraqi Women Judges Association marked, on Tuesday, 10/3/2026, the International Day of Women Judges, affirming that this occasion represents an important moment to reflect on the significant role played by women judges in upholding justice and strengthening the rule of law. The Association noted that this day carries symbolic significance, highlighting the status of women judges and their contributions to the development of judicial work and service to society.

In a speech delivered during a closed virtual session attended by members of the Association and a distinguished group of women judges, the President of the Association, Judge Taghreed Abdul Majeed, stated that celebrating this occasion is a tribute of appreciation and pride for every judge who has carried the message of justice with integrity and unwavering determination. She emphasized the vital contributions of women judges, through their knowledge, experience, and professional dedication, in reinforcing the principles of the rule of law and safeguarding human rights.

She explained that women judges have demonstrated, throughout their professional journey, a high ability to combine wisdom, fairness, and courage in delivering justice and upholding its values, reflecting the pivotal role women play within the judicial system.

She added that the Iraqi judiciary has witnessed, in recent years, a growing and distinguished presence of women judges, who have presented a high-level professional model and contributed effectively to the advancement of judicial work and the strengthening of public trust in judicial institutions.

She further noted that Iraqi women judges have proven their competence in performing their duties and have contributed to consolidating the principles of justice and the application of the law with responsibility and integrity. This reflects the progress achieved by the Iraqi judiciary in empowering women and enhancing their participation in judicial work.

From its professional responsibility, the Iraqi Women Judges Association reaffirmed its commitment to continuing to support the journey of women judges, empower them, and enhance their presence across various fields of judicial work.
