The Iraqi Women Judges Association organizes a roundtable on the contribution of women judges to accountability for corruption

The Iraqi Women Judges Association, in cooperation with the United Nations Development Programme and the United Nations Mission, organized on Saturday, May 20, 2023, a roundtable discussion on the contribution of Iraqi women judges and female public prosecutors in both the federal center and the Kurdistan Region to accountability for corruption through the judicial system.

The Media Center of the Supreme Judicial Council stated that “the roundtable was held at the Babylon Hotel, where it featured speeches by the President of the Iraqi Women Judges Association, Judge Taghreed Abdul Majeed, women judges from the Kurdistan Region, and a representative of the United Nations. The event was attended by 30 women judges from the center and the region.”

This activity aims to enhance understanding of the key challenges in investigations and litigation related to corruption cases, as well as the available opportunities from the perspective of women judges, and to discuss possible avenues of support to strengthen their role with the assistance of the United Nations.
